Who uses the Teen Health Center?

Our Teen Health Center is for anyone between the ages of 11 and 19.  A lot of young people come to support their friends who use our services.  Some come to learn how to stay abstinent; some come to talk.  Many come to protect their health and plan for their future by getting exams, condoms and birth control. Whatever you come for, we’re here to listen and help you stay healthy. And if you need specialized healthcare, we’ll go the extra mile to connect you with a trusted professional.

You do not have to been sexually active to benefit from our services.  And don’t assume anyone is sexually active just because you’ve seen them at our Teen Health Center.  In fact, it’s smart to visit our Teen Health Center before you start having sex so you can talk about it with one of our health educators.  They can help make sure you know all the risks and options.  We are here for you, and you can ask us anything.

What does “confidential” mean?

A lot of young people worry that we will tell their parents they have visited us. It is against state law for us to inform parents that you’ve visited our Teen Health Center for birth control, pregnancy, STD testing and treatment, or drug and alcohol issues, unless you give us written permission. And we honor that confidentiality.

While we encourage parental involvement, we know not every young person feels safe or comfortable discussing these types of private health issues with their parents. We respect the privacy of our patients, and we do not share this type of health information without your permission.
